Monica Amorosi, LMHC, CCTP, NCC

Monica is one of Unfilteredd’s go-to experts on narcissism and narcissistic abuse.

She’s a licensed mental health counselor practicing at Clarity Therapy in New York City, where she delivers intensive trauma therapy through somatic work, DBT, ACT, and attachment-based approaches.

She’s nationally board-certified through the NBCC and holds specialized trauma certification through the IATP.

She earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of Saint Rose in 2018, after completing her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Health Science at SUNY Brockport in 2014.

Monica’s expertise is grounded in years of hands-on work with people at every point in the cycle of interpersonal violence.

Early in her career she worked directly with children affected or displaced by violence in the home, supporting family reunification through the foster care system and helping families rebuild after leaving a harmful member behind.

As a clinician, she’s facilitated safe family therapy for families impacted by violence and provided clinical intervention to convicted perpetrators — experience that gives her an unusually complete picture of how abuse works and how people recover from it.

Her understanding is also personal. Monica has lived through interpersonal violence herself, in her family growing up and later in her first serious relationship, and that lived experience informs the empathy and clarity she brings to the work.

Since 2019, she’s also worked as an educator and consultant.

She’s presented more than 25 times on the link between trauma and learning to K–12 public schools across New York State, including a keynote to a district of 1,100+ staff. In 2020 she developed a 10-week trauma recovery group that she’s facilitated ever since.
