Little Acts of Rebellion
Hi there, it’s Juliana!
A narcissist will often try to control you by micromanaging how you think, behave, and spend your time.
This can cause you to develop a deep feeling of emptiness because their tactics slowly chip away at your identity.
We’ve been testing a couple of different strategies to address this feeling.
But the most effective one by far has been finding subtle ways to rebel against the narcissist’s micromanagement.
For example, if they criticize how you do things, you could mentally note, “I know what works for me, and I don’t need to prove it to them.”
Or let’s say you’re out of the relationship, but in the past, they used to control how many utensils you could use to cook food.
To rebel, you could grab all the utensils you can get your hands on and use them to cook something nice for yourself.
Acts of rebellion like these can help you rebuild the parts of yourself that were lost in the relationship and fill the emptiness the narcissist created.
So, if you can relate to this feeling of emptiness, I truly hope this exercise brings you the strength and reconnection it’s brought to so many of us.
All the best,
Juliana
