Dr. Jackson Newsome
LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Dr. Jackson Newsome is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Director of the Trauma Program at Compass Health Center’s Chicago location.
Dr. Newsome received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. After completing his final three years of pre-doctoral training in the VA healthcare system, he joined Compass Health Center for his trauma post-doctoral fellowship.
His training at the VA centered on collaborations with veterans experiencing posttraumatic stress and co-occurring conditions across several settings, including a PTSD Clinic, a veterans intensive outpatient program, inpatient psychiatric care, and a methadone clinic (among others). At Compass Health Center, the Trauma Program staff serve patients experiencing posttraumatic stress originating from contexts of intimate partner violence, sexual, other violent, systemic (identity-based), and complex trauma.
Dr. Newsome teaches on an adjunct basis at Roosevelt University and also founded a private practice: Forge Psychology Chicago. Beyond trauma work, Dr. Newsome holds primary interests in diagnosing and understanding personality structure as well as applications of psychoanalytic concepts in contemporary settings (e.g., integrating analytic and time-limited or cognitive-behavioral work).
